When Louella, a young preacher's wife, calls on Oata to investigate rumours of her justice-of-the-peace marriage, sharing confidences about their mothers-in-law relaxes into theological questions such as «Must we be thankful that we are born bad?» and «Are you feeling the rib?». A reference to a childhood… prayer triggers a revelation of the darkness lurking behind the ordered surface of family and community, releasing a storm of accusations and denials as two generations of women struggle to confront perpetrators and their enablers.
Armin Wiebe's first play, «The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven Blatz», premiered to sold-out audiences and enthusiastic reviews at Theatre Projects Manitoba in 2011 and enjoyed a second presentation at Station Arts Centre in 2016. Author of five novels and a collection of short stories Wiebe's latest novel is «Grandmother, Laughing»
