If it were the 60's, folksinger Maria Mango probably would have been famous, or so she's been told by the old timers who were there. This modern-day flower child is an anachronism with her hippie anthems about peace, love, sharing and growing food, freedom, unity, and couchsurfing. "Three chords and the truth," is how she describes her style, and after many years of playing for change on the street, she's got a little something for everyone.
Though you may or may not have heard of her yet due to her lack of enthusiasm to do all that shameless self-promotion stuff, or her resistance to committing to a touring schedule like a regular musician, this freebird's adventures are nonetheless legendary. Carrying with her little more than a guitar and a smile, she has busked her way across the continent on a wing and a prayer, from Flin Flon to Hawaii to Burning Man and San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury and back again. She can bring the intimacy and warmth of a campfire to any venue she plays. Her music is organically fresh yet timelessly familiar.
If you ever see her busking on a street corner, stick around for a song or two, she's sure to make you smile, or cry, or sometimes both at the same time!
