INTRODUCING A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO MEDITATION AND BUDDHISM.
The 15-Week Course on the Buddhist Way of Life in a 3 part series
If you would like to receive a structured introduction to Buddhism, this course may be for you! You can attend the entire 15 week course, or a 5-week series, or simply drop-in to any class on any week. No commitment needs to be made for the entirety of the course, however, the more classes you attend, the greater benefit you will receive! Success in our meditation practice takes consistency and repetition, so committing to a part or the whole course is encouraged but not neccessary.
Buddha’s teachings are scientific methods for improving our humanity and good qualities through developing our mind. This course provides a special opportunity to learn essential principles unique to Buddhist philosophy, as well as a chance to delve into meditation as a tool for training our mind. Each class consists of chanted prayer, guided meditations, teachings, and discussion.
When is the class: Tuesdays 7-8:30pm
Part 1 – Basic Buddhism April 3-May1
Part 2 – The Liberating Path May 8- June 5 *no class on June 12th
Part 3 – The Mind of Enlightenment June 19- July17
The Book: Introduction to Buddhism
The course will be based on the book, Introduction to Buddhism, An Explanation of the Buddhist Way of Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Copies of this book are available for purchase in our bookstore so you can read, study, and follow along. You may attend the whole course or just drop-in to as many classes as you like.
Kelsang Rigden is a modern Buddhist nun, Resident Teacher of KMC Winnipeg and a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. With Rigden’s sincere faith and dedication, she is able to make Buddhist teachings accessible for everyone regardless of age, experience and background.
