An experience unlike any other, this 2-day workshop will reconnect you with spirit and leave you feeling joyful, energized, and renewed. You will be challenged to leave ordinary ways of thinking and acting, and enter into the extraordinary. Expect to laugh, connect with your inner child, challenge and set boundaries, and gain deep insight into yourself. You will dance, sing, meditate, play games, give and receive massage, participate in dyad conversations, explore Kaula Tantra Yoga, and create lasting friendships in the process.
This is a safe space to release your fears and surrender to the present moment. You will be fully supported throughout the process. All people and emotions are welcome in this space.
What does this workshop have to do with Shamanism?
We are accustomed to the painted, red-nosed clown of our childhood, but very few are familiar with the Shamanic Clown. Sacred Clowns have existed in cultures all over the world, but perhaps the most infamous is Heyoka, of the Lakota people. The role of the Shamanic Clown is to act in contrast, to deflate the ego that corrupts, and remind us of our fallibility and need for balance.
Clowning is about turning things upside down and reclaiming our vulnerability. The process of learning clown is the process of unlearning the societal structures we have been taught. It is learning to be you, without judgment, and really enjoying it!
How is this related to Tantra?
The overarching themes of this class are the 7 Keys of Tantra: Surrender, Awareness, Movement, Breath, Sound, Intention, and Non-judgment. We will focus on our relationship with ourselves, each other, and with all other aspects of creation, including the invisible forces that govern our lives.
We will also explore Kaula Tantra Yoga; a deeply meditative practice that utilizes long holds and breath retention. The focus is on relaxing into postures, and giving your nervous system time to integrate through repeated shavasanas.
